The term of the members noted above expired November 30, 1992.
Since each has served only one year, because of the staggered
initial terms, it is appropriate to reappoint each for a full three
year term. 'It is also unclear from the County's records what the
term of office was supposed to be for Mr. Madden. We are therefore
asking the Board of Supervisors to clarify his term of office.

several members are expiring and need to be acted on. How soon
will you have some recommendation for the Internal Operations .
Committee to review? We could schedule for either October 26 or

Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ICLERK BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
651 Pine Street CONTRA COSTA CO.
Martinez, 'Ca. 94533-1286
Dear Board of Supervisors:
My term on the Advisory Council for E.E.O.C. will be over this fall and it
is my desire to serve another.term. I have found this to be a very
challenging and enlightening experience. The council agreed to monitor the
progress of the affirmative action plans that have been submitted, reviewed
and evaluated. For the council to be at its peak ,efficiency, it seems to
me that it would be best to keep the members whose terms are ending this
fall if they desire to serve.
As a council member, I represent the disabled community. Through my
connections with County Independent Living Resources, Client Assistance and
as a counselor assistant with vocational rehabilitation, I feel that I remain
a strong link between the disabled cotmnmity and the Board. With the new
Americans With.Disabilities Act in effect there will undoubtedly be new
challenges for the county and I would like to help work on bridging the
problems into solutions. I have studied the new ADA laws, listened to
lectures and have future classes planned.
It is my desire to thank you at this time for appointing me to this Advisory
Council for this year and for your consideration for another term. If you
have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the above address or
phone numbers.
Sincerely,
Gail R. Miller
Advisory Council Member Representing the Disabled
