Request the Community Development Department staff and Acme Landfill to provide a status report to the 1992 Internal Operations Committee by January 31, 1992 on efforts to discourage members of the Martinez Gun Club from using the Arthur Road access to their property and on the general condition of the Arthur Road area as a result of efforts to restrict access to Acme Landfill and Transfer Station and the Martinez Gun Club from Arthur Road and for this purpose refer this issue to the 1992 Internal Operations Committee. PHIL BATCHELOR,CLERK OF THE BOARD OF S ERVISOR AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BY ,DEPUTY \ M382 (10/88) /' I .O. -2 On October 28, 1991, our Committee met with staff from the Community Development Department; Michael Reed, representing Acme Landfill; and Harry Russo, representing the Martinez Gun Club. The results of the survey conducted by the security firm retained by Acme Landfill is attached. It shows that the vast majority of individuals who wanted to access the gate from Arthur Road were members of the Martinez Gun Club. Those from Acme Landfill and IT Corp were denied access. since they were not supposed to be using this point to access their respective properties. An effort is being made by the Martinez Gun Club to discourage its members from using the Arthur Road gate to acces's their property. Acme Landfill intends to maintain its security guard for several weeks to determine the success of this effort. We are pleased with the cooperation which has been shown Iby Acme Landfill as well as the Martinez Gun Club to the concerns which have been expressed by the neighbors in the Arthur Road area. We are asking that this matter be referred to next year' s Internal Operations Committee. so that they can receive a status. report on the effort to discourage access from the Arthur Road gate, even from members of the Martinez Gun Club, who clearly have the right to access their property from this point, but who are supposed to lock the gate after doing so. cc: County Administrator Chuck Zahn, Assistant Director Community Development Victor J.
