RECOMMENDATION
Direct the County Administrator and the Personnel Department, in
consultation with labor and management representatives, to review-_.._... ...-. ._.___. .
current policies and procedures related to sexual harassment and
to provide the Board of Supervisors with a recommended updated
policy.
BACKGROUND
While it is my understanding and impression that Contra Costa
County as an employer takes seriously the issue of sexual
harassment and does not tolerate it, the recent national debate has
underscored the need to reaffirm our commitment to treating sexual
harassment as a serious matter and to insure that employees know
it is not tolerated. Labor and management representatives need to
be involved in the process to insure our policies address every
employee level .
