HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10221991 - 1.82 The Center will continue to offer a recreation program, after school
tutoring program, and an anti-drug information program. A new component of
the second year program will be the hiring of a Resident Relations Coordinator
who will work with the Las Deltas Resident Council in a variety of resident
and anti-drug activities.
At its Regular Meeting on Monday, October 21, 1991, the Advisory Housing
Committee approved a recommendation to accept the grant award and to execute
the grant agreement by the Executive Director and to forward this recommen-
dation to the Board of Commissioners.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not accept the grant award and
to not authorize the Executive Director to execute the grant agreement, the
Housing Authority would forfeit $250,000 in federal grant funds for use in
combating drugs in the public housing development in Las Deltas in North
Richmond. The Housing Authority would have to terminate its contract with the
Sheriff's Department for two Deputy Sheriffs and to terminate the employment
of three public housing residents. Additionally, the Board of Commissioners
would be adopting a posture contrary to its position of providing decent, safe
and sanitary housing for low income families.
