SUBJECT: VETERANS DAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1991
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 686
WHEREAS, Veterans Day is a traditional and special day for
Americans to pause and pay tribute to the men and women who have
served our nation in the United States Armed Forces during war
and peacetime; and
WHEREAS, America has set the standard for freedom and liberty for
the world to emulate; and
WHEREAS, Our veterans have proved time and time again to be the
defenders , the pxeservers and the champions of our sacred
freedoms; and
WHEREAS, We also contemplate the high cost of our freedom by
honoring the over one million Americans who gave their lives
during war and our disabled veterans and POW/MIA' s who we shall
never forget; and
WHEREAS, This Veterans Day we recognize a new generation of
Persian Gulf War veterans who, like veterans of the past, served
to liberate others from the grips of tyranny and suppression;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY does hereby urge all county residents to
honor the valor, sacrifice and commitment of our nation' s
veterans and to salute the men and women currently serving in the
Armed Forces of America at home and around the world.
