HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10011991 - X.1 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on October 1, 1991 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Fanden, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisors Powers, Schroder ABSTAIN: None -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: Pipeline Leaks In its discussion on cleanup of the contaminated soil in the Byron area, Board members commented on the feasibility of enacting an ordinance that would require a notification to the County of a pipeline leak and a requirement for the timely cleanup of the area contaminated. Board members also commented on the need for a procedure that would allow the County to be reimbursed for any cleanup of the contamination should the responsible party fail to act within a reasonable time period. Therefore, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Public Works Director, County Counsel, and the Health Services Director are REQUESTED to review the feasibility of an ordinance that would provide a protocol for notifying the County of pipeline leaks and provide authority to the County to clean up the leak caused contamination upon failure of the responsible party to do so within a reasonable time period. I hereby certify that this Is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
