Direct the Health Services Department-Environmental Health to obtain available data on coliform levels in Delta waters within the County, and work with the Regional Water Quality Control Board and Contra Costa Water District to explore potential for additional testing. 2 . Direct the Health .Services Department-Environmental Health to work with the Community Development Department as necessary on a public information pamphlet, explaining County perspective regarding the boat sewage issue and requesting public cooperation. 3 . Direct the Health Services Department-Environmental Health to work with Delta Diablo Sanitation District and other agencies to determine well coliform levels for the Brentwood and Discovery Bay areas. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS 1. The effects of boats dumping Sewage into Delta waters are not known. Currently, the Regional Water Quality Control Board has little empirical data to quantify the degree of sewage dumping, or its potentialimpacts. The Water Committee recommends that some empirical data be gathered to assess impacts prior to further action on this issue. Input from the Health Services Department should include additional direction regarding the testing program, such as what (other than coliform) should be included in tests, how inclusive should testing be, and locations for sampling.
