REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: A cash shortage occurred in the Walnut Creek-Danville Municipal Court on August 27, 1991 in the amount of $30.00. The cash shortage was discovered in comparing transactions with cash and checks received. The cashier believes that an error was made when adding the amount due on two cases paid by one defendant. Based on the District Court Manager's statement that cash controls will be strengthened we recommend relief of the $30.00 shortage be granted. Yancey District Attorney DATE: September 9, 1991 SUBJECT: Relief of Cash Shortage - Walnut Creek-Danville Municipal Court We have reviewed the memorandum from Laura Bogardus, District Court Manager, dated August 30, 1991 , requesting relief of a cash shortage of $30.00. Under the provisions of Government Code Section 29390, this report appears to be adequate investigation. This office recommends that the department involved be relieved from the shortage and that the amount be deemed a charge against the general fund.
