MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: February 5, 1991 SUBJECT: APPROVING PLANS AND GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR COLUSA CIRCLE HANDICAP RAMPS, KENSINGTON AREA Project No.: 0662-6U4106-90, CP# 90-36 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE the Plans and General Provisions and AUTHORIZE issuance of a Purchase Order for furnishing labor and materials for the Colusa Circle Handicap Ramps Project to Joe Carone, Inc., the low bidder, in the amount of $9,994.00 and at the unit prices submitted in said bid. DIRECT the Director of Community Development to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk. II. Financial Impact: The Engineer's Estimate was $9,900.00. This project including engineering and appropriate overhead charges is funded by Road Funds (100%). III. 'Reasons for Recommendations and Background: This is a safety project which will provide better pedestrian access to businesses along the "Town Circle." Bids for the project were received and opened at 255 Glacier Drive, Martinez, on January 17, 1991. Reasons for Recommendations and Background Cont'd: The Public Works Director has filed with the Board of Supervisors the Plans and General Provisions for the subject project. The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project, have been filed with the Clerk of the Board and copies will be available to any interested party upon request. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan. It has been determined that this project is exempt from CEQA requirements as a Class 1C Categorical Exemption. The Board hereby concurs in said determination. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The project will not be built.
