HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02261991 - TC.1B EXHIBIT B TC.lb THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on February 26, 1991 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson and Powers NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Fanden ABSTAIN: None RESOLUTION NO. 91/119 SUBJECT: Resolution supporting an application ) of Proposition 116 funds by the City ) of Martinez for the parking and transit ) improvement project ) The Board of supervisors of Contra Costa County RESOLVES that: Whereas, the need for additional parking and transit im- provements has been documented in the Assembly Concurrent Resolu- tion 132 Intercity Rail Corridor Upgrade Study (1990) and the Joint Parking Study undertaken by the County, City of Martinez and Community College District (1987) , and Whereas, increased intercity rail service to Martinez will significantly increase demand for parking and passenger access, and; Whereas, the Board of Supervisors supports increasing intercity rail service at the Martinez AMTRAK station; and Whereas, the Board of Supervisors recognizes that governmen- tal uses impact parking in the Downtown Martinez area; and Whereas, Proposition 116 rail bond funds are available to improve intercity rail service in the Placer County to Santa Clara County corridor (Section 99622 (c) ) ; and Whereas, the City of Martinez has proposed to submit an application for Proposition 116 funds to Caltrans and the Cali- fornia Transportation Commission for funding of the Parking and Transit Improvement Project; and Whereas, the project scope for the Parking and Transit Improvement Project will be determined through an Environmental Impact Report, pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act, 1970, as amended, and is intended to include parking, transit and passenger access improvements. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County as follows: SECTION 1 . The Board endorses submission of the application by the City of Martinez to the California Transportation Commis- sion, via Caltrans, for Proposition 116 Rail Bond funds for the Parking and Transit Improvement Project. SECTION 2 . The Board directs the County Administrator and the Director of Community Development to report to the Board on other opportunities available to the County to support the City's Parking and Transit Improvement Project.
