CREDIT CARD TRANSFER SYSTEM SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION AUTHORIZE the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to execute a contract between the County and Vital Chek Network, Inc. for a credit card transfer system. FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no County cost associated with this contract. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION / BACKGROUND The Vital Chek payment transfer system is a computerized system which verifies the validity of a credit card proffered by a payor, authorize4,the applicable charge in favor of Vital Chek to the payor's credit card account, and then may either electronically print a check or permit manual creation of a check from the Vital Chek Network, Inc. account payable to the County. These checks are immediately available for deposit in County accounts. Under the terms of the contract, Vital Chek would install a credit card transfer system in the offices of any County department which agrees in writing to the installation and to accept MasterCard or VISA as a means for payment of any and all fees, fines, licensing charges, etc. The system would allow County clients to pay fees or fines with their credit cards.
