SUBJECT:
Approve Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-202-44 with the State
Department of Health Services for Family Planning Services
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County,
Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-202-44 (State #88-93875-A2)
effective February 7, 1990 with the State Department of Health
Services to amend Standard Agreement #29-202-41 (effective July 1,
1988 through June 30, 1990) for the County' s Family Planning
Services. This amendment (1) increases the payment limit by
$25, 140 from $32, 160 to a new payment limit of $57, 300 for FY 89-
90; (2) extends the contract term from June 30, 1990 through June
30, 1991; and (3) increases the total payment limit of the contract
by $67, 000 for FY 90-91 to a new three-year contract total of
$191, 300.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of this amendment will result in $25, 140 of increased
State funding for FY 1989-90 for the County's Family Planning
Services, and continues the Family Planning Services through June
30, 1991. No additional County funding is required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
For many years the County has provided family planning services to
citizens of child-bearing age who would otherwise be unable to
obtain these services. Family planning services funded through
this contract are for persons who request such services through
County facilities. The County must bill any other possible payment
source, such as Medi-Cal, before seeking reimbursement from the
State for services provided. This contract is a method for
reimbursement rather than a straight reimbursement contract.
On February 6, 1990, the Board approved Standard Agreement
(Amendment) #29-202-43 with the State Department of Health Services
which decreased the maximum reimbursable amount of $67, 000 to a new
