P300 (M347) 7/89 (Rev. ) CONTRA COSTA COUNTY _ HEALTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT To: `Fran Ward December 11 , 1990 Deputy County Administrator Date: _, From: Shelley Pighin CLERICAL SUPERVISOR. FOR THE Personnel Services Assistant Subject: WIC PROGRAM Attached is a P300 and supporting documentation to reclassify Clerk-Senior Level position #54-02098 (L.Lestage) to Clerical Supervisor. The following background elaborates. In October 1990 the Health Services Department implemented a reorganization of the WIC Program clerical staff. This included upgrading two experienced level clerks to senior level to provide lead direction to clerical staff at both the Richmond and Pittsburg clinics. At that time, L. Lestage, located at Concord Clinic , assumed the role of full first line supervisor for the 2 senior level and 7 experienced level clerks assigned to the 3 WIC clinics (Concord, Richmond, Pittsburg) . In that role, she spends the majority of her time providing direct supervision, including hiring, evaluating, counseling and recommending discipline. Since the administrative staff of the WIC program is located in Martinez, it is essential to the operation of the program to have a Clerical Supervisor available to answer questions and manage the clerical operations of the 3 regional offices. The approval of this request results in an increase of only $173 per month, which is within the Department's approved budget. Ms. Lestage is ranked number 5 on the promotional eligible list for this class. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 313-6620.
