MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: February 26, 1991 SUBJECT: Approving Palmer Road Reconstruction Project, Walnut Creek Area. Project No.: 0662-6R4087-90, CP# 90-15. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE Project and DETERMINE that the project is a CEQA Class 1 C Categorical Exemption. DIRECT the Public Works Director to prepare contract plans and specifications for construction. DIRECT the Director of Community Development to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk. II. Financial Impact: The estimated project cost is $416,340, funded by SB 300 (15.3%) and Measure C (84.7%). III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The project is needed to repair an existing street. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from CEQA because this is the repair of an existing street and will not involve removal of a scenic resource, rock outcropping, or a historic building. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design and construction and may jeopardize funding.
