HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02261991 - 1.35 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Declaring ) March 2, 1991 as DELTA KAPPA ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 124 GAMMA DAY in Contra Costa County ) Delta Kappa Gamma is an international society of women educators. This year on March 2, Delta Kappa Gamma is holding a twenty-one chapter conference to discuss educational issues. The conference will bring together professional women ranging from kindergarten teachers to university professors. Delta Kappa Gamma' s membership covers a broad array of purposes. They have united women educators to honor women who have given distinctive service; to protect against discrimination; to sponsor and support desirable educational legislation; to endow scholarships to outstanding women teachers; to improve the economic, social, and political status of women; to keep the membership apprised of current issues so that they become intelligent, functioning members of society. We wish to acknowledge Delta Kappa Gamma' s outstanding advocacy of women' s issues. Their contribution has helped change our society' s perception of women educators in leadership positions, and we commend and thank them for their dedication to promoting equality. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares March 2, 1991 as DELTA KAPPA GALA DAY in Contra Costa County. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON February 26 , 1991, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
