HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02121991 - S.2 S, Z IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA -COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF ) Supporting Measure A, a San Ramon ) Valley School Board Bond Measure on) the March 5th, .1991 Election ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 115 WHEREAS, the- Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors believes that the education of our children is a vital investment in the future of our County; and WHEREAS, an independent commission has recommended the construc- tion of new school buildings in order to provide classrooms for the children already present in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District; and WHEREAS, eight of the schools serving the children of the San Ramon Valley .are approaching ,thirty years of age or more and are in need of repair and rehabilitation; and WHEREAS, State lottery funds cannot be used for construction or building repair; and WHEREAS, local funds are needed to assure the restoration of existing schools and the construction of new classrooms; and WHEREAS, any funds raised by Measure A can only be used to rehabilitate existing schools, provide for classroom additions at existing schools, build a new middle school and build a new elementa- ry school. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby endorses the passage of Measure A, a local school funding measure designed to raise the funds that the San Ramon Valley Unified School District schools need to ensure quality educa- tion facilities in the future. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 12th day of January, 1991.
