FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract limit is $100,000. 00. This is a continuation of services. There is no additional financial impact as this is a budgeted item. BACKGROUND: The above contract is for Court ordered urinalysis services for adult and juvenile probationers. This is a continuation of services which PharmChem has provided to the Probation Department for many years. Buck, County Probation Officer Costa FROM: •;- '�• s Coun tY DATE: January 30, 1991 sT� COUNT SUBJECT: Contract With PharmChem Laboratories, Inc. , No. 35384-3049-2310-91 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the County Probation Officer to sign a contract between the County and PharmChem Laboratories, Inc. for Court ordered urinalysis services for the period January 1, 1991 through December 31, 1991. These services are in conjunction with an Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP) grant for intensive drug testing. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract limit is $120,000. 00. This amount was approved for funding by OCJP. The Intensive Drug Testing Program will be accounted for separately from the Department' s routine urinalysis testing. BACKGROUND: The Probation Department has been awarded continuing funding from the Office of Criminal Justice Planning for its Anti-Drug Abuse Program. This contract is to provide intensive drug testing services to a selected group of adult and juvenile probationers as specified by the OCJP guidelines. Intensive drug testing provides the Department with the ability to substantially increase its effectiveness in deterring drug abuse among probationers.
