SUBJECT: Request for Exemption from Freeze
This department requests you consider authorizing exemption from
the freeze for three positions within the Building Inspection
Department.
Two of the positions are reassignments from clerk-exp. level to
clerk senior level to compensate individuals for the work they are
doing. These two requests were submitted in early December prior
to the freeze. Increased salary will be covered by building permit
revenue, therefore, there will be no additional cost to County
funds.
The third position is to promote a clerk specialist level to
clerical supervisor. This request was submitted in November, and
again, all increases in cost for salary will be from building
permit revenue. I believe the exemptions are justified, and in
this case, Ms. Bickerdike is performing the duties of clerical
supervisor over administrative clerical staff in the Building
Inspection Department, and should be compensated..
