IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Honoring )
MOLLIE FUJIOKA ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/92
Mollie Fujioka was instrumental in lobbying for the signing of the
Redress Bill -- an entitlement bill to provide reparations to
Japanese American survivors of the World War II internment camps in
the United States. Her devotion to this goal was endless, and her
determination was rewarded in 1990 when she witnessed the first
checks being given to internment camp survivors by President Bush.
This year Mollie has been selected to receive the 1991 Cavalcade of
Women . Award by the Advisory Committee on the Employment and
Economic Status of Women for her outstanding efforts in the passage
of the Redress Bill. The Redress Bill is only one example of the
commitment Mollie has made to Japanese Americans. She is very
active with the Japanese American Citizens League and every year
helps organize the many Japanese cultural events that take place in
Contra Costa County -- allowing a multitude of people to experience
the rich traditions of the Japanese people.
We extend to Mollie our sincere congratulations for receiving this
tremendous honor and commend her dedication to her heritage and her
compassion for the Japanese Americans who were unjustly imprisoned
during World War II.

MOLLIE FUJIORA for her involvement. in the signing of the Redress
Bill and for being selected for the 1991 Cavalcade of Women Award.
