HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12171991 - X.5 X. 5 MR THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA DATE: December 17, 1991 MATTER OF RECORD --------------=------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: General Assistance The Board this day adopted Resolution No. 91/811 relating to shared housing and mutually responsible general assistance standards pending appeal of orders of the Superior Court Action, and in connection therewith, Phil Berthentahl from Contra Costa Legal Services advised that he was appearing on behalf of a number of clients including the plaintiffs in Oberlander vs. CCC. Mr. Berthenthal commented on the various changes the Board has made in general assistance regulations and his concerns with respect to the timeliness of implementation of said changes. Mr. Berthenthal also voiced his concerns about properly noticing any action the Board might take with respect to welfare benefits. THIS IS A MATTER OF RECORD THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on December 17, 1991, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson and Powers NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Shared Housing General ) Assistance Standards ) Resolution No. 91/ 811 Pending Appeal ) The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors Resolves : The Contra Costa County Superior Court having on November 6, 1991 ordered that the County refrain from implementing the multiple budget unit standards of Resolution 91/606; and the Court having ruled on December 10, 1991 that the amendments to the multiple budget unit standards enacted by Resolution 91/717 fail to achieve compliance with the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code section 17000.5; the County having. appealed the Court's November 6 , 1991 order and the stay resulting from that appeal having been removed by an order of the Court of Appeal: 1 . The County Counsel is authorized and directed to appeal the order that will issue as a result of the Superior Court's December 10, 1991 ruling, and to move for consolidation of that appeal with the pending appeal . 2 . Pending determination of said appeals the amounts of the General Assistance standards of aid for persons in shared housing shall be the shared housing._and mutually responsible basic need allowances expressed in Board of Supervisors Resolution 89/598, section I .
