4 . Establish as the intent of the Board of Supervisors that the
next vacancies on the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory
Council in seats for which they would qualify will be filled
by the appointment of Richard S. Lujan and Linda Kearns .
5 . Remove this item as a referral to our Committee.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Supervisors made most of the appointments to the
Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council on December 3, 1991
but left three seats pending with our Committee, the two labor
union seats and the fourth seat representing women, minorities
and other protected groups .
Our Committee met on December 9, 1991 and agreed to make the
above recommendations to the Board for these vacancies . We are
very sorry that we have had to choose among so many fine
candidates and that we were not able to recommend the appointment
of Mr. Lujan or Ms . Kearns this time. We do, however, recommend
that they be appointed to the first vacancies in seats for which
they would qualify.
