Appoint to the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council, to a term expiring November 30, 1994 and representing women, minorities and other protected groups: Earnest Witt, Sr. 344 - 6th Street Richmond, CA 94801 2 . Agree with the Labor Union rotation system proposed by the Contra Costa Labor Coalition for Health Care under which SEIU, Local 535 would make an appointment for a term expiring November 30, 1993 and the Deputy Sheriff ' s Association would make an appointment to a term expiring November 30, 1994 . 3 . Establish as the intent of the Board of Supervisors that the next vacancies on the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council in seats for which they would qualify will be filled by the appointment of Richard S. Lujan and Linda Kearns . 5 . Remove this item as a referral to our Committee. BACKGROUND: The Board of Supervisors made most of the appointments to the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Council on December 3, 1991 but left three seats pending with our Committee, the two labor union seats and the fourth seat representing women, minorities and other protected groups . Our Committee met on December 9, 1991 and agreed to make the above recommendations to the Board for these vacancies . We are very sorry that we have had to choose among so many fine candidates and that we were not able to recommend the appointment of Mr. Lujan or Ms . Kearns this time. We have agreed to share the two seats available by rotating th.e positions . Initially on a two and three year term and then on a two year term . only beginning the third year. The first two terms will be held by the Deputy Sheriff Association and Service Employees International Union. The DSA will be appointing one of their members for a three year term and SEIU Local 535 will be appointing a member for A two year term. Thereafter each of the other labor organizations will appoint someone for two year terms , when their time arrives. Contact each organization to obtain the representative 's name when the term arrives . .
