FROM: RICHARD K. RAINEY, Sheriff-Coroner Contra
Costa
DATE: October 16, 1990 County
SUBJECT: Training Agreement - CHP Academy
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve, authorize chair to execute on behalf of the County,
as required by the California Highway Patrol, a training
agreement between the County and CHP for a Contra Costa County
Deputy Sheriff to attend a motorcycle enforcement training
class.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost of the course, not to exceed $1,533 .75, will be
reimbursed by the State of California under the Police Officer
Standards and Training Program.. Budgeted expenditure and
revenue.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The motorcycle training in question has routinely been
provided those Deputies assigned to the Department's Off-Road
Vehicle Enforcement Program. A requirement for participating
in this training program is that the signed agreement must be
in on file with the Office of the CHP. The agreement
basically guarantees payment by the County and holds harmless
the State of California resulting from the County employee's
negligence or omissions in connection with the physical
facility or other acts related to the agreement.
