RAINEY, Sheriff-Coroner Contra Costa DATE: October 16, 1990 County SUBJECT: Training Agreement - CHP Academy SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve, authorize chair to execute on behalf of the County, as required by the California Highway Patrol, a training agreement between the County and CHP for a Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriff to attend a motorcycle enforcement training class. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the course, not to exceed $1,533 .75, will be reimbursed by the State of California under the Police Officer Standards and Training Program.. Budgeted expenditure and revenue. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The motorcycle training in question has routinely been provided those Deputies assigned to the Department's Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement Program. A requirement for participating in this training program is that the signed agreement must be in on file with the Office of the CHP. The agreement basically guarantees payment by the County and holds harmless the State of California resulting from the County employee's negligence or omissions in connection with the physical facility or other acts related to the agreement.
