MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: October 23, 1990 SUBJECT: STATUS AND EXPENSE REPORT FOR THE FOURTH QUARTER (APR-JUN) OF FISCAL YEAR 1989-90, CANYON LAKES GEOLOGIC HAZARD ABATEMENT DISTRICT. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: 1. Accept the Canyon Lakes G.H.A.D. Quarterly Status and Expense Report for the Fourth Quarter of Fiscal Year 1989-90. 2. Approve and Adopt the Assessments and the Detailed Program Budget expanding upon the Line Item Budget (approved August 1990) for Fiscal Year 1990-91. II. Financial Impact: None. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: During the fourth quarter the district continued installation and repairs to various drainage systems. For the entire fiscal year, expenses of $84,329.67 for repairs and maintenance were approximately 82 percent of the budget for this item. Total expenses of$171,575.42 were about 79 percent of the original annual budget of$216,000, well within the anticipated allotment for the year's work. While the projected expenses for this year are about 16 percent higher than last year, the total income budget for the coming fiscal year (FY 1990-91) is only about 8 percent higher than last year. The resulting surplus, estimated to be about a 33 percent increase, will be placed in the district's reserve account to protect against any future major repair expense.
