October 9, 1990 Cou�'• � DATE: spa-cdJk ' SUBJECT: QUITCLAIM DEED - 1019 CENTER AVENUE, MARTINEZ, CALIFORNIA SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION: AUTHORIZE the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to EXECUTE on behalf of the County, a Quitclaim Deed to KAISER FOUNDATION HOSPITALS, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, for the, property interest in premises leased by the County at 1019 Center Avenue, Martinez . Pursuant to Government Code Section 25526 .5, said property interest is DETERMINED to be surplus and no longer necessary for County or other public purposes and its estimated value does not exceed $10, 000 . 00 . AUTHORIZE the Clerk-Recorder to record the Quitclaim Deed together with a certified copy of this Board Order. The Lease Management Division is DIRECTED to cause said Quitclaim Deed to be delivered to the grantee according to the terms of the "Agreement for the Relocation of Central County Morgue" , approved by Order of the Board of Supervisors, September 19, 1989 : II. Financial Impact: The County will receive approximately $328,000 . 00 representing the final twenty percent payment under the terms of the "Agreement for the relocation of Central County Morgue" . Reasons for Recommendations/Background: Contra Costa County acquired an interest -in this real property by a Lease-Purchase Agreement on July 30, 1973, for use as the Central County Morgue. On September 19, 1989, the Board of Supervisors approved "The Agreement for the Relocation of Central County Morgue" with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals . The Agreement exchanged the County property interest for approximately $1,640, 000.00, applied to construction . costs of the new Forensic Science Center. The Agreement also required the County to execute a Short Term Lease and a Quitclaim Deed. The Short Term Lease was approved by the Board of Supervisors effective September 1, 1990 . The Quitclaim Deed is required to remove any remaining County. property interest after relocation ' to the new Forensic Science Facility.
