TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, as the Board of Commissioners of Contra Costa County
Redevelopment Agency
FROM: PHIL BATCHELOR, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
DATE: October 9, 1990
SUBJECT: APPROVE LICENSE AGREEMENT TO EXTEND IRON HORSE TRAIL
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE License Agreement with East Bay Regional Park District extending the limits of the
Iron Horse Trail and AUTHORIZE the Board Chair to execute said Agreement.
II. Financial Impact:
None.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
On October 14, 1986, the County entered into a License Agreement with East Bay Regional Park
District allowing the District to establish and maintain a riding and hiking trail within the former
Southern Pacific Railroad right of way between Stone Valley Road in Alamo and Linda Mesa
Avenue in Danville. This additional License covers property in the jurisdiction of the Redevelop-
ment Agency (from Walden Road to Monument Blvd) allowing extension of the original trail limits.
Construction of the trail is consistent with existing Agency policy providing for public use of the
right of way and does not conflict with the development of a future transit corridor in the right
of way.
