HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01301990 - S.8 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter Supporting ) the Ocean Alliance grant ) Resolution no. 90/61 Application for an Adopt- ) A-Beach Program in Contra ) Costa County ) WHEREAS, Contra Costa County has shoreline on three sides which is an important resource and asset that needs to be preserved and protected: and WHEREAS, there are many regional parks on the Contra Costa Shoreline which could benefit from additional efforts to protect and enhance the shoreline; and WHEREAS, California's Beverage Recycling and Litter Reduction Act provides funds for litter abatement and recycling; and WHEREAS, the Division of Recycling which oversees the Act has established criteria with which all applicants must comply relative to the receipt of funds; and WHEREAS, the Ocean Alliance is applying for a grant to develop the Adopt-A-Beach School Education Program in four counties including Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, the Ocean Alliance will be working closely with the East Bay Regional Park District, the East Bay Conservation Corps, the California Coastal Commission, and Contra Costa County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County supports the Adopt-A-Beach Program for funding under the Division of Recycling's Litter Abatement and Recycling Activities Contracts Program; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County supports this proposal because it develops a new program which is not currently being provided in the county.
