Buck, County Probation Officer Costa n, S c: County DATE: January 30, 1990 SUBJECT: Approval of Contract #35231 with Children' s Home �n Society for Youth Crisis Services. SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION Authorize the County Probation Officer to sign Contract #35231 between the County and Children's Home Society (CHS) for the period January 1, 1990 to June 30, 1990, subject to a payment limit of $199,000 and an automatic extension effective July 1, 1990 to December 31, 1990 subject to an equivalent payment limit. BACKGROUND This contract is for continuation of services to status offenders. Children' s Home Society provides emergency short- term shelter care and crisis counseling to minors coming within the provision of Section 601 of the Welfare and Institutions Code. CHS also provides temporary residential care at the Sherman House facility in Pleasant Hill (for up to six youngsters) and two direct delivery foster care beds in either East and/or West County. This contract represents a reduction in service from a ten bed program to an eight bed program. The reduction in service level is needed in order to fund this contract within the Probation Department' s budget, absent an augmentation to accommodate increased costs (COLA) for the Contractor.
