MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER DATE: January 9, 1990 SUBJECT: APPROVAL of Contract Change Order Number 4 for The Wildcat Creek/Verde School North Access Road Project. Project 7527-6D8619-88 specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer to execute Contract Change Order Number 4 for approximately $1,800. 00 to compensate the contractor, Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc. for unforseen extra work. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. It is funded by Flood Control Zone 7 (24. 6%) and Department of Water Resources (75.4%) . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONfBACKGROUND: The change order added parking lot and shoulder area grading for drainage purposes. This change was necessary to successfully complete the project. The cumulative total of this and previous contract change orders exceeds $25, 000. 00 and requires Board approval. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would preclude the payment to the contractor for work required and accomplished.
