HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02271990 - 1.45 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CON'T'RA COSTA COUNTY INTHE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 90/114 commending Frank Ballesteros for his contribution to the youth of East County in introducing them to the Performing Arts WHEREAS,Frank Ballesteros'fascination with the theatre led him to become a member of the San Francisco Actor's Workshop; and Frank founded the Antioch Storyland Theatre for children ages 7 years old and up in 1968 at the suggestion of his mother-in-law, Mary E. Ferguson; and Frank has acted as Director,Set Designer,Lighting Designer, Financial officer, and has handled the total production duties for most of the plays he has produced; and Frank has produced plays for Antioch Storyland Theatre under the auspices of the Antioch Leisure Services Department as well as acting as an independent producer; and WHEREAS,Frank also developed the Resurrection Theatre and has produced plays under the auspices of Holy Rosary Parish in Antioch; and WHEREAS,Frank has cast each child who has tried out for each play, thereby providing thousands of children with the opportunity to participate and experience the performing arts; and said participation has enhanced the self-confidence of each and every participant, as well as instilled pride in the heart of every participant's parents; and Frank and his various casts of performers have contributed to the community by scheduling performances at Juvenile Hall and Boys Ranch; and Frank has had the heartfelt cooperation and support of his wife, Patsy, and two sons, Joseph and John, as well as his employer, the U. S.Post Office; and WHEREAS,Frank has provided a positive, creative and exciting learning experience for every child and parent ever involved in his theatre productions - one they will remember and cherish throughout their lives; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY,CALIFORNIA,does hereby commend Frank Ballesteros for his contribution to the youth of East County in introducing them to the Performing Arts and promoting their self-esteem through performances for the community. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 27th day of February, 1990.
