DATE:
DATE: February 8, 1990 County
SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-168-3 and
Contract #26-168-4 with Delta Personnel Services, Inc.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION.:
Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County the following
documents with Delta Personnel Services, Inc. for respiratory therapy registry
services for Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics:
A. Contract Amendment Agreement #26-168-3, effective January 1, 1990, to amend
Contract #26-168-2 (effective February 1, 1989 through January 31, 1990) to
change the contractor's name from Western Medical Personnel, Inc. to Delta
Personnel Services, Inc. This contractor's name was legally changed
effective January 1, 1990. This amendment is necessary to allow payment to
contractor for services provided during the month of January. There is no
change in the contract payment limit of $75,000.
B. Contract #26-168-4 for Licensed Respiratory Therapist services in the amount
of $50,000 for the period February 1, 1990 through January 31, 1991.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
:A. Contract Amendment Agreement #26-168-3: None.
B. Contract #26-168-4 is included in the Department's Enterprise I Budget for
FY 1989-90 and'will be included in the Department's FY 1990-91 Budget. The
contract payment limit is $25,000 less than the prior 12-month contract.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
On February 6, 1989 the County Administrator's Office approved and the Purchasing
Agent executed Contract #26-168-1 with Western Medical Personnel, Inc. (dba
Pulmonary Technicians Services) for temporary licensed respiratory therapist
personnel to assist Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics during peak loads,
temporary absences and emergency situations. On October 17, 1989 the Board
approved Contract Amendment Agreement #26-168-2 to increase the contract payment
limit from $25,000 to $75,000. Contract Amendment Agreement #26-168-3 is
necessary to change the name of the contractor, which will allow payment for
services rendered during the month of January.
Under Contract #26-168-4 the contractor will continue to provide licensed
respiratory therapists as requested by the County through January 31, 1991. The
Department must rely upon this registry as there is a current national shortage
of respiratory therapists. The Department has been unsuccessful in recruiting
to fill vacant respiratory therapist positions.
