SUBJECT: APPROVE A CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH WOODWARD-CLYDE
CONSULTANTS FOR CAMINO TASSAJARA BRIDGE
PROJECT NO.: 0662-6R4072-88
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute the Consulting Services
Agreement with Woodward Clyde Consultants for performing soils testing for Camino Tassajara
Bridge.
II. Financial Impact:
The maximum amount of the contract is $18,148. It is to be funded by local road funds
(100%).
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
The existing bridge has deteriorated and needs to be replaced with a wider structure on a
new alignment.
The services of a consultant are required to provide soils information in order to design the
project. Three firms were interviewed and Woodward-Clyde was determined to be the best
qualified for performing this work.

IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
The project cannot be designed without soils information. If soils testing are not provided by
consultant, the completion of final construction plans will be delayed.
