SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Agree to have staff from the Community Development Department meet with Dorothy Sakazaki on behalf of the residents of that portion of Vine Hill which includes the sphere of influence of the Arthur Road area, and representatives from the Mt. View Sanitary District and Acme Landfill in an effort to explore fully the need for and possible methods of providing for host community mitigation because of the presence of the Acme Landfill and Transfer Station in their community. 2. Request staff from the Community Development Department to report back to the 1991 Internal Operations Committee on January 28, 1991 with a status report on this subject. 3. Remove this item as a referral to our Committee. BACKGROUND: On April 10, 1990 the Board of Supervisors referred to our Committee a letter from the Solid Waste Commission, transmitting a request from Dorothy Sakazaki on behalf of the residents of Vine Hill, asking that the issue of Host Community Mitigation be addressed for the Vine Hill area. On November 26, 1990 our Committee met with Mrs. Sakazaki and staff from the Community Development Department. Department staff indicated that they ate planning to meet with Mrs. Sakazaki, representatives from Mt.. View Sanitary District and Acme Landfill. Staff noted the recent approval of the Erickson hazardous waste facility, which included the return of a portion of the tax revenue from the facility to the community - serving in a sense as a Host Community Mitigation fee.
