BACKGROUND:
On December 19, . 1989, the Board of Supervisors referred to our
Committee the issue of the status, structure and membership of
the Agricultural Resources Advisory Committee and the
Agricultural Task Force. We reported to the Board of Supervisors
on May 22, 1990, at which time the Board expressed its intent to
create a single advisory body to advise the Board on agricultural.
and open space issues.
We withheld further consideration on the details of this issue
once Measure F qualified for the ballot and the Board placed
Measure C on the ballot to determine what action the voters would
take on the two measures. Obviously, whether one or the other of
the measures qualified for the ballot would make a significant
difference in terms of what the role of such an advisory body
would be.
Now that the election results are clear, we are ready to proceed
with this issue and are, therefore, making the above
recommendations.
