MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER DATE: NOVEMBER 141 1989 SUBJECT: ACCEPT THE UPPER PINE CREEK CHANNEL, WALNUT CREEK PROJECT FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE, FLOOD CONTROL ZONE 3B, PROJECT NO. 7520-6B8621 Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDATION ACCEPT the Upper Pine Creek Channel for operation and maintenance. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT The annual maintenance cost is estimated to be $35,000. 00. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND The improvement of Upper Pine Creek was included in the authorized Walnut Creek Project in December, 1973 . In accordance with federal requirements the Flood Control District has provided the necessary rights of way and relocations and paid 7.4 percent of the construction cost. The District is further obligated to maintain the Upper Pine Creek Channel. On February 16, 1989 the Corps of Engineers reported the completion of the project and transferred the channel to the District for operation and maintenance.
