HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10311989 - 1.12 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter Commending ) Richmond Unified High School ) RESOLTUION NO. 89/ 714 Students for Their Participation ) In Violence Prevention Month ) Through the Prevention Program ) WHEREAS, the Health Department of Contra Costa County, in order to educate youth against the use of violence as a means of solving problems, established the Prevention Program; and WHEREAS, the Prevention Program was recently awarded the Annual Statewide Lori Hogan media award for demonstrated excellence in mental health education for its newsletter, Youth Matters, and its t-shirt and poster design for Violence Prevention Month in Richmond; and WHEREAS, many high school students from the Richmond Unified School District participated in the Violence Prevention Month contests which resulted in the creation of the "Rap Against Violence" video tape shown on local cable television stations around the county; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County commends the Prevention Program for its excellence and expertise; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County congratulates the winners and parents of the Violence Prevention Month rap and journalism contests.
