MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR p DATE: October 3, 1989 SUBJECT: PROGRAM SUPPLEMENT # 73 WHICH PROVIDES FEDERAL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT FUNDING FOR ENGINEERING AND RIGHT OF WAY FOR THE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT ON DEER VALLEY ROAD AT MARSH CREEK (PROJECT NO. 0662-6R4097-87) Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDATION APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to execute Program Supplement #73 which provides $35, 600 in Federal Bridge Replacement funds for Engineering and Right of Way for the bridge replacement project on Deer Valley Road at Marsh Creek. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT The supplement provides reimbursement from Federal Bridge Replacement Funds for eighty percent of the County' s estimated costs for the project. The County must provide the remaining twenty percent of the funding for these items. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND On June 21, 1977 the Board approved County-State Master Agreement No. 04-5928 for the funding of Federal Aid Projects. This project is scheduled to be advertised for contract bids in April 1990. Construction is expected to be completed by August 1990. Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration have determined that this County can be reimbursed for the County' s estimated Engineering and Right of Way costs for the project. The County Transportation Committee reviewed this item on September 25, 1989. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION If this program supplement is not approved, the County will have to absorb the entire cost of Engineering and Right of Way for this project. I
