MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER DATE: January 10, 1989 SUBJECT: INCREASE the Contingency Fund and APPROVAL of Contract Change Order No. 1 for the Wildcat Creek, Verde School North Access Road Project, Project No. 7527-6D8619-88 , North Richmond area. Specific Request(s) or Recommendation (s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE Contract Contingency Fund Increase of $35, 000 . 00 and, AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer to execute Contract Change Order No. 1 for approximately $42 , 000. 00 to compensate the contractor, Bay Cities Paving & Grading, inc. for contract item increases and unforeseen extra work. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The increase in the Contingency Fund will be funded by Flood Control Zone 7 and the Department of Water Resources. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The total of Contract Change Order No. 1 exceeds $25, 000. 00, requiring Board approval . The additional funds are needed to pay the contractor for work that was required to complete the contract. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would preclude the payment to the contractor for the work required for the successful completion of the contract.
