DATE: February 9, 1989
SUBJECT: Tri-Valley Transportation Program Memorandum of Agreement
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the proposed Tri-Valley Transportation Program Memorandum
of Agreement and authorize the Chairman of the Board of Super-
visors to execute the Agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
The county would be obligated to contribute a fair share of the
cost of carrying out the program. The amount of the contribution
will be established later by the parties to the agreement. No
specific cost figures are currently available.
BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
Since September, 1988, the Tri-Valley Transportation Committee
composed of representatives of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties,
the cities of San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and the
Town of Danville have been reviewing the various transportation
plans having a bearing on the Tri-Valley Area.
At its meeting of December 5, 1988, the Committee determined to
pursue a comprehensive transportation plan for the entire area.
On January 26, 1989, the Committee discussed the proposed agree-
ment and determined to seek the approval of each city council and
board of supervisors. Although some of the provisions will need
to be made more specific at a later date, the agreement provides
an opportunity for regional transportation planning on a coopera-
tive basis.
