Mike Walford, Public Works Director, advised that there is a very serious accident problem at this intersection and he believed that the intersection should be improved by putting in a left turn pocket and a signal, and that the work should be done to accepted standards. Bill Cardinale, 1411 Silva Dale Rd, Alamo, advised that he was speaking as a resident of Alamo and not representing any groups or commissions, stated that each time he hears of an attempt to widen the Boulevard, he gets concerned, that he does not believe that such a radical change is necessary initially to deal with the problem, but that an initial approach may be to start with stop signs, if necessary a 3-way stop intersection, and if that doesn't work then next consider a stop light, and if a left turn is found necessary, a short-stack left turn lane should be considered instead of an 850-foot stack lane. The Chair noted that Sheryl Neely and Claudia Nimr had submitted request to speak cards, but had left the meeting. Robert D. Myhre, 2561 Danville Boulevard, Alamo, Vice Chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee for County Service Area P-2B, advised that the Advisory Committee is firmly in favor of a left turn lane at this intersection but that its recommendation for a left turn lane has nothing to do with the specifications. Mr. Myhre noted that speaking on behalf of himself as a resident of Alamo, he has witnessed a number of accidents at this intersection over the past years and agrees that it is a highly dangerous intersection, but assured the Board that no one in Alamo really favors over extensive widening of the Boulevard. He noted that public safety is a primary concern to the residents. Supervisor Schroder requested that action on this matter be deferred to January 16, 1990 so that he could meet with the Public Works Director and the Engineer, and to learn what the San Ramon Valley Regional Planning Commission has to say after they discuss it on January 3 . As recommended by Supervisor Schroder, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the above matter is DEFERRED to January 16, 1990 on its determination agenda. I hereby certify that this is a true and Correct Copy Of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Suparvl n the date shown. cc: Public Works Director ATTESTED: SAA.J.MI q- /J t Community Development PHIL BATCHELOR,Clerk of the Board County Administrator 01Superyisomand County Administrator By .Deputy
