ORDINANCE NO. 89 -79
(Treble Abatement Costs for Repeat Public Nuisances )
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as follows
(omitting parenthetical footnotes from the official text of the
enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance Code) :
SECTION I. SUMMARY. This ordinance adds Article 16-6 . 6 to the
County Ordinance Code, to authorize a court to order an owner to
pay treble the costs of abatement upon entry of a second or
subsequent civil or criminal judgment within a two-year period
finding that the owner is responsible for a condition that may be
abated in accordance with the County's Uniform Public Nuisance
Abatement Procedure (County Ordinance Code Article 14-6 .4) .
SECTION II . Article 14-6 . 6 is added to the County Ordinance

14-6 . 602. Treble abatement cost for repeat public nuisance.
In addition to all other remedies available under the law,
including the penalties provided in this code, upon entry of a
second or subsequent civil or criminal judgment within a two-year
period finding that an owner is responsible for a condition that
may be abated pursuant to Article 14-6 .4, the court may order the
owner to pay treble the costs of the abatement.

14-6 .604 . Exception. Section 14-6 .602 shall not apply to
conditions abated pursuant to Health and Safety Code section
17980 .

SECTION III . EFFECTIVE AND OPERATIVE DATES. This ordinance
becomes effective 30 days after passage, and it becomes operative
on January 1, 1990. Within 15 days of passage, this ordinance
shall be published once with the names of the Supervisors voting
for and against it in the Contra Costa Times, a newspaper
published in this County.

Recommended Action:
Approve appointments made by the Medical Staff Executive Committee on October 16,
1989 of the following new Medical Staff members. Appointment to be for a period
of two (2) years:
Robert J. Lindsay, M.D. - Department of Anesthesiology
Khema Ram Sharma, M.D. - Department of Medicine
Michael S. Tanaka, .M.D. - Department of Medicine
Approve reappointments made by the Medical Staff Executive Committee on October 16,
1989 of the following Medical Staff members, Reappointment to be for a period of
two (2) years:

Background:
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals has requested that evidence
of Board approval for each Medical Staff member be contained within their Credential
File. These members recommended for new appointment and reappointment have had their
credentials reviewed by the Credentials Committee and were approved for
appointment/reappointment by the Executive Committee.
