Commending the Pittsburg High ) RESOLUTION NO. 88/684
School Marching Band for its )
Outstanding Performance at )
the Walnut Festival Parade )
WHEREAS, the Pittsburg High School Marching Band performed
in the Annual Walnut Festival Parade on September 10, 1988;
WHEREAS, for the second year, the band was awarded with the
highest parade performance honors--"King Walnut Award; "
WHEREAS, the Pittsburg High School Marching Band is the only
band to have won this prestigious award two years in a row;
WHEREAS, the Pittsburg High School Marching Band, directed
by Orrin Cross, has grown to an eager and energetic force of 77 band
members, 2 majorettes, 7 flag girls, a drum major and four managers
that participate enthusiastically in community events as well as band
competitions;
WHEREAS, the Pittsburg High School Marching Band has
served as a source of spirit and pride for the students and faculty
as well as the Pittsburg community;
WHEREAS, the 86 band members began practicing two weeks
before school started and have worked diligently to perfect their
performance and their accomplishment reflects this hard work and
dedication;
WHEREAS, the Pittsburg High School Marching Band earned this
band honor by presenting a "Salute to the Olympics" theme honoring
our Olympic participants;
NOW, EF'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, does hereby congratulates the
Pittsburg High School Marching Band for its outstanding performance at
the Walnut Creek Festival Parade and commends the band members, the
drum major, and the band director for their dedication and commitment
to excellence.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on
this 1st day of November, 1988.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors
of the date aforesaid.
