ABSENT: Supervisors Powers, Fanden ABSTAIN: None ------------------------------------------------------------------ SUBJECT: Miranda Avenue Bike/Pedestrian Lane The Board received the attached resolution from the County Service Area R7-A Citizens Advisory Committee, P.O. Box 1062, Alamo 94507, requesting that the Board pursue the construction of a safe bike and pedestrian lane on Miranda Avenue between Stone Valley Road and Livorna Avenue, Alamo area. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the aforesaid request is REFERRED to the Community Development Director and the Public Works Director. BATCHELOR, Clerk of tic Board cc: CSA R7-A CAC of Supervisors and County Administrator Community Development Director Public Works Director By Deputy County Administrator ALAM ` ALAMO PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE County Service Area R7-A i PARKS AN RECREATION Dave Holleman Chair Wanda Longnecker Bill Mullally Brian Thiessen Bill Warfield Bill Reiley WHEREAS, The Citizen' s Advisory Committee for Administrator County Service Area R7-A is charged with advising the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on matters of a recreational nature in the Alamo community; and WHEREAS, Miranda Avenue is the only north-south connector between Stone Valley Road and Livorna Avenue, East of I-680 , a safe adjacent lane for elementary school children, walkers, joggers and bike riders is required; and WHEREAS, the Alamo Park, Open Space, Conserva- tion and Recreation Plan (The Plan) adopted in October 1985, identifies a bike trail along Miranda Avenue as an important goal;. and WHEREAS, The Plan names Miranda Avenue as a link in a .safe bicycle route for Stone Valley School and Alamo School students; and WHEREAS, the Stone Valley PTA and CSA R7-A have identified the safety of students forced to use Miranda Avenue as their primary concern; and WHEREAS, there are no safe, alternate routes available. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that R7-A requests the Board of Supervisors, for the benefit of the health, welfare and safety of the community, pursue the construction of a safe bike and pedes- trian lane on Miranda Avenue between Stone Valley Road and Livorna Road.
