III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIO&BACKGROUND
Over the years a great deal of effort has been extended to
develop an acceptable and comprehensive flood control plan for
Tice Creek. A plan involving detention basins and creek bypass
pipe lines is currently being prepared by the Flood Control
District and should be available for public review in the near
future.
The actions being taken by Friends of Tice Creek is an indication
of the desire and commitment of area residents to not only
preserve, but to restore and enhance the creek to establish a
productive ecosystem. The grant will allow retention of
specialized consulting services to develop restoration and
erosion control plans as well as the development of a public
