Gathers. information from client or.parent for in- ' put to computer for initial registration and for updates concerning that information such as changes in. financial status, marital status, address,. 25% name, source of payment, etc. Inputs codes effecting billing for services, Short Doyle computations, legal status, doctor codes, census tract, etc. Uses diplomacy and tact in dealing with upset, anxious and occasionally potentially violent persons in obtaining information having to do with their financial status and other personal information to responsibly input proper information to computer before patient is seen by therapist. Completes Short/Doyle applications for clients and obtains proper signatures. Explains S/D fee and how it is to be paid, collects that fee at the same time if possible and registers payment in receipt book, chart ledger and gives receipt to the patient. Dispenses information over the phone and. in person oil the services available at CCCbIlIC, Child and Adolescent Services. Answers questions 20% from the general public, private and public agencies concerning clinic policies, procedures and practices. Responsible for preparing Children's Services Unit's charts prior to. the day!s appointments. Reviews each chart for proper codes, billing slip correctly dated, coded, appointment slip for future appointment, 10% method of payment. Maintains log of children seen, by whom, type.of visit, source of payment and time of appointment.. Totals number of visits by type of visit a;id therapist' each month Prepares log and charts for on-going visits to therapists (Children's Services) . . Receives Medi-Cal labels, Short/Doyle payments, Keeps accurate information in computer and chart-concerning each client. This requires specialized skill and kn�,vrledge regarding current and changing 15% procedures regarding use and meaning of a variety of financial codes and eligibility requirements, need for renewal of S/D application, doctor and diagnostic codes, numbers of screens needed and uses of- same. Enter USM III codes into computer from the billing forms filled out by the therapist to facilitate the final billing by patient accounting. Must have good working knowledge of different screens on computer, how to access them and what each screen's use is. - Is knowledgable in use of micro-•fiche, the codes used and the several sets of tapes (SDX, M/Cal, Alpha, H, etc.) Is able to obtain necessary 5% information for computer input or client and/or' therapist information from tapes which are continuously updated. Understands terminal digit form of filing medical charts and correct preparation of same. . Monitors Medical Record charts for completion of progress notes, proper signatures and correct order of forms, legal papers, correspondence, Utilization Review forms, etc. }las knowledge 15$ of forms legally needed before releasing any information on client seen in clinic. Obtains proper signature on appropriate form and discusses with therapist as, rieeded. Is aware of confidentiality laws as applied to Mental Health. Prepares and uses Data Control Card files (alphabetical active and closed - and Cross reference terminal digit). Is able to identify non-standard situations within Clinic (such as distraught clients, emergencies, unusual questions and/or happenings^ 10% acts appropriately and responsibly either by herself or obtains help when necessary, i.e., calls law enforcement agency, ambulance, sounds alarm to bring help froim other clinic personnel, etc. AK 75 'types letters, memos, reports from rough draft.
