SUBJECT: Re-allocation of AB 2536 - Cortese Funds County
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION .
SPECIFIC ACTION:
Approve the recommendation of the Disaster Council to
re-allocate some of the AB 2536 funds received from, the State
of California.
BACKGROUND:
Following the distribution of proceeds from the third
allocation of monies from the AB 2536 Cortese Funds, the Office
of Emergency Services .received additional claims for AB 2536
assistance. Those claims were as follows :
Acalanes Unified School Dist. $ 93 , 285 .
Orinda School District 46, 800
Winter Island 13 ,000
Mt . Diablo Unified School Dist . 65, 000
East Bay Regional Parks 2, 254 .
CCC Office of Emergency Services 100,000.
Total $ 320, 339 .

Additionally, the Office of Emergency Services was notified by
the City of Concord and the Diablo Community Services District
that the additional funds were not needed and were returned to
the county. These allocations totalled $112, 393 .00 (Concord
$106, 251.00 and Diablo $6, 142 .00) . At its December 16, 1987
meeting, the Disaster Council agreed to recommend for Board
approval the re-allocation of $112 , 393 . 00 as follows :
Orinda School District 46, 800.
Winter Island 13 , 000.
East Bay Regional 2 , 254 .
Office of Emergency Services 50, 339 .
Total $ 112 , 393 .
It further recommended the submission to the State of
California of an additional claim of $158 , 285 .00 for the two
remaining requests for the Acalanes and Mt . Diablo Unified
School Districts .
