From:Departmental Personnel Officer Subject: Appointment (E. Chandler) This is a ROUTINE request to add a Clerk-"A" level position (non-typing) in our Patient Accounting Office. The reasons for wanting to add the position are twofold. First, we have identified certain routine tasks needing to be performed which do not necessitate an accounting clerical background or the ability to type (see the attached 10/22/87 memo). Second, there is an individual available for appointment to such a position thru the County Rehabilitation program who would be very acceptable to us (see attached 10/114/87 memo frcm.Ms. Besenfelder). Sufficient monies are available in our FY 87/88 budget to fund such a position, especially since the Rehab, progrem will pick up the cost of 1/2 of the employee's salary for the 1st 6 months. By copy of this memo Sue Beadle is requested to authorize a waiver of competition under PMR 502 to facilitate such an appointment (original certification attached to her copy) . Ms. Chandler is currently at step #5 of Institutional Services Aide ($1558) and it is our understanding Sue would calculate her salary step placement as she recently did in the P. Banks case. When that is done, I'm requesting Sue notify both us and Bobbie so that Bobbie can reconfirm directly with Ms. Chandler she will voluntarily accept such an appointment and salary. Please shoot for placement of the attached P-300 on the 1/5/87 Board agenda. If approved, the employee will report to her new position on 1/6/87.
