Bragdon Cwa Director of Community Development County DATE: February 9, 1988 SUBJECT: Briones Hills Agricultural Preservation Area Adoption Status Report SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Accept this report on the status of the Briones Hills Agricultural Preservation Area. 2. Request Supervisors Fanden and Powers ' Offices to keep the Board advised on arrangements for the signing ceremony. FISCAL IMPACT Only moderate staff costs to continue to monitor the adoption process. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The County Administrator has indicated that the Board wished to have an update on the status of this program and on efforts to develop a signing ceremony with participating jurisdictions. Since the Board of Supervisors adoption of the final Briones Hills Agricultural Preservation Area on November 3 , 1987, four cities have adopted parallel resolutions. No dates are set, but staff hopes this can be accomplished within six weeks. Pinole and San Pablo will consider adoption on February 16, 1988 . Pleasant Hill has it scheduled for February 22, 1988. The Board adoption of November 3 ,;1987 directed Supervisors Fanden and Powers' Offices to arrange -a signing ceremony which would publicize this agreement. According to members of those Super- visors staff, they are working jointly on initial arrangements for such a ceremony. Since final arrangements can' t be made until all cities have considered the agreement, the specifics haven' t yet been developed.
