Personnel officer (medical Records) Attached is a P300 to classify a Supervising Clerk position for the Medical Records Unit of the Hospital and Clinic Division, using Accredited Records Technician position 54-310 as an offset. The approval of this transaction will result in a $28. per month salary reduction. In conjuction with his review and reorganization of the structure of work assigments in Medical Records, Ted Signet, Chief Medical Records Admini- strator, observed that the A.R.T. position assigned to the Central File Room-was plagued by turnover. Mr. Signet attributes this to the fact that the duties of this assignment are more closely aligned to those of Supervis- ing Clerk than A.R.T. and it is the absence of the technical duties that makes the position unattractive to A.R.T. 's. The Central File Room Supervisor is responsible for interviewing, employee selection, discipline, evaluation and work delegation. The work unit is comprised of B Level Clerks and one Medical Records Technician per shift. The tasks normally performed by an A.R.T. in addition to supervision}which rely on a knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9-CM coding practices and medico-legal -matters are not required in this assignment. We would appreciate your placing this item on the Board's 11/30/88 agenda. Any questions you have should be addressed to Lois Ellison on ext. 4157.
