HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12201988 - S.3 53 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on December 20, 1988 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Torlakson, Schroder NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor McPeak ABSTAIN: None ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ SUBJECT: Winter Relief Food Program Ida Daniel Berk, Executive Director, Community Services Department, advised that there is $17,000 in the County' s Steward B. McKinney Federal Homeless Relief Fund allocation that must be expended by the end of the year. She recommended that the funds be used to provide food vouchers to twenty-five homeless service providers in the County. Supervisor Tom Powers commented on the valuable service provided by the Souper Center operated by the Volunteers of America in Richmond, and noted that the Center currently has a deficit and is threatened with possible closure. He recommended that an allocation be made from the Steward B. McKinney funds to prevent the closure of the Souper Center. Board members being in agreement, IT IS ORDERED that the County Administrator is DIRECTED to coordinate the allocation of Steward B.
