This contractor is a community-based nonprofit organization
which provides community outreach, prevention, education, and
crisis intervention alcoholism services, primarily to the south
and central County areas and to the schools. The contractor
utilizes many volunteers to enhance the delivery of services.
Effective January 1 , 1987 , SB 920 legislation increased the fine
for anyone convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) . In
addition, the State Department of Alcohol and Drugs has awarded
the County a small federal grant to be used to augment the
"Friday Night Live" Program. Last fiscal year , the Board
approved the use of these two funding sources for this contrac-
tor to provide Friday Night Live Program services at an expanded
level for the last three months of the fiscal year ending June
30 , 1988 . This FY 88-89 Contract #24-754-14 expands these
Friday Night Live Program services to a full annualized 12-month
level.
